Saturday, September 14 - Bergamo - NO HAT 2019 Annual Conference

Gianfranco Tonello will present the talk "Samsung Under Attack" illustrating the spear-phishing attack on Samsung Italy Service Centers.


We report that on Saturday, September 14, 2019, the NO HAT Computer Security Conference will be held in Bergamo.

Gianfranco Tonello, computer engineer and virus/malware analyst since 1990, will be one of the speaker at the cybersecurity event that unites all enthusiasts and professionals with content and insights into the broad world of cybersecurity and privacy (Check out the detailed program).

Berghem-in-the-middle - HackLab Bergamo NO HAT is an annual security conference organized by Berghem-in-the-middle, Bergamo's HackLab. It is a Social Promotion Association founded in July 2018 by a group of computer security and general IT enthusiasts and professionals from Bergamo and surrounding areas.

The completely free event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at:

Abstract of the talk: "Samsung Under Attack"

The presentation will illustrate the attack on Samsung Italy, but it affected also simultaneously, in similar ways, Samsung Service centers in Russia.
It is a spear-phishing attack towards Samsung Italy Service Centers with emails artfully modified to be absolutely credible and having, as final target ,the Samsung parent company. It will be explained how the attack evolved over the months, which, as such, appears likely to have been carried out by qualified and structured actors. They were trying to penetrate, through the Samsung Service Centers, the centralized platform of the parent company to steal its secrets.
Through TG Soft's C.R.A.M. (Anti-Malware Research Center) Threat Intelligence, we could reconstruct the evolution of the attack that saw its beginning in January 2017.
