Overview of threats in Italy in July
In July we had an increase in cyber attacks and a growth in the number of malware clusters compared to the previous month.
In July there was the grand return of Emotet after a 5-month absence.
The first part of the month saw a continued presence of the Ursnif malware through "Internal Revenue Service"- malspam campaigns and courier invoices/orders.
Various password stealers were present such as AgentTesla, MassLogger, and FormBook. But the big news in July was Emotet, which became active again on July 17, hitting the U.S. and, from July 21, began its massive malspam campaigns in Italy. Attacks via RDP that carried ransomware (Globe Imposter, Black Claw, Matrix, Phobos, Makop, and WannaScream), persisted.
Cyber attacks by the cyber-criminal Hagga continued.
